Brownstone by Dean Kutzler , A thriller of mythical deceit.

First of all, I received a free copy of Brownstone from author, Dean Kutzler to whom I am happy to write an honest review for.  Secondly, the thriller novel, Brownstone is one of the best books I have read in a while.  This being the case I give Brownstone 5 stars.  It is a novel based upon the interesting and seldom written about first woman in creation.  Kutzler did his research and gives us (the reader) a journey into the ambiguities of mythical texts including the Bible.  He does this by introducing journalist, Jack Elliot who lives and works in Montreal, Quebec.  As the protagonist, Jack is someone whom we all recognize.  He's funny, thoughtful, over achieving, and someone you could sit down with to have a great conversation with.  Furthermore, his mannerisms, guilt, questions, and behavior makes Jack the normal guy we see walking down the street, whether it's trying to catch a cab or dreaming of a Starbuck's coffee, we know how he feels.  Jack becomes our eyes and minds as we are drawn into Kutlzler's creation; becoming pawns within the war between good and evil.  Or is it.  Which organization is which?  What has dragged Jack into this web of betrayal, deceit, and murder.  Moreover, why does Jack find himself locked in a battle of faith, love, lies, and death surrounding the mysterious and elusive first woman of creation.

In order to find out, you need to join Jack and along the way meet Father Alazar, the seminarian who is searching for a relic of considerable knowledge and destruction; Harold, the cabbie who meets Jack and winds up being his guardian angel in a more technological way;  Jack's father, the big man at a New York newspaper, Jack's mother, the lovely southern woman whose faith is strong, and Uncle Terry, Jack's beloved uncle, the brother to his father.  It is his deadly stroke which brings Jack from Montreal back to New York City where the chaos storming within and around Jack fills the pages with questions.  Questions of belief, ethics, family, love, and what exactly is the secret surrounding Uncle Terry's death and how does the Brownstone fit into it.

Kutzler delivers with this  thriller and I can't wait until he writes his next one.  Jack Elliot has become a friend whom I want to see again and follow in his wake as he moves toward his next adventure!
